UZBEKISTAN JOURNAL OF MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE (UJMCS)

Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy

The Uzbekistan Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science (UJMCS) adheres to rigorous ethical and editorial standards to ensure the publication of high-quality, original research in pure and applied mathematics, as well as in theoretical and applied computer science. The journal aims to foster a vibrant research culture and promote the rapid exchange of ideas by providing a reputable and transparent academic platform for scholars and practitioners worldwide.

All submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere, including other journals or conference proceedings.

1. Editorial Standards and Processes

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. All authors must:

  1. Contribute significantly to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
  2. Participate in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
  3. Approve the final version to be published;
  4. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions related to accuracy or integrity are properly investigated and resolved.

All authors must approve the final manuscript and consent to its submission to UJMCS.

2. Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose all sources of financial and material support for their research, including grants, institutional funding, equipment, or travel support. The funding organization and grant number (if applicable) should be clearly stated in the Declarations section.

3. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Assisted Technologies

Authors must disclose any use of AI-assisted technologies (e.g., Large Language Models, ChatGPT, or similar tools) in manuscript preparation. The method and extent of AI usage should be described both in the cover letter and in the manuscript.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the integrity or originality of the research. Human authors remain fully responsible for the entire content, including all AI-assisted material. Authors must carefully review, verify, and edit AI-generated content to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and objectivity. AI tools should not be cited as information sources; all referenced material must be attributed to human-authored works.

4. Peer Review Process

UJMCS follows international best practices to ensure a fair, unbiased, confidential, and transparent peer review process. The journal employs either single-blind or double-blind review.

Reviewer Selection:

  • Authors may suggest potential reviewers and/or request exclusion of certain individuals when submitting manuscripts.
  • Suggested reviewers must be independent, qualified, and free of conflicts of interest.
  • Institutional email addresses or verifiable identifiers (e.g., ORCID, institutional webpage, author ID) must be provided.
  • The editorial board reserves the right to accept, reject, or disregard reviewer suggestions at its discretion.

5. Publication Ethics

Research Misconduct

UJMCS upholds the highest standards of research integrity and will not tolerate misconduct, including data fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, unethical research practices, or biased reporting.

Plagiarism

All submissions are screened for originality. Detected plagiarism will result in notification to authors, an opportunity to respond, and if unresolved, rejection or retraction.

Duplicate Submission

Manuscripts published or under consideration elsewhere are ineligible for publication. Detected duplicates will be rejected or withdrawn and may lead to sanctions.

Sanctions

  • Issue formal warnings;
  • Reject manuscripts immediately;
  • Impose probation on future submissions;
  • Suspend reviewer eligibility;
  • Publish formal notices of misconduct;
  • Retract or permanently withdraw articles.

6. Editors and Conflicts of Interest

Editors and Board Members as Authors

Editors and board members are excluded from decisions on their own manuscripts or those where conflicts exist.

Conflicts of Interest

All editors, reviewers, and authors must disclose financial, professional, or personal relationships that may influence their judgment.

Editors and reviewers must inform the journal if:

  • They lack expertise to review;
  • They detect substantial similarity to other works;
  • They suspect conflicts of interest.

Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a detailed written request. Appeals are reviewed per UJMCS procedures.

Corrections and Retractions

Errors or inaccuracies should be reported to the editorial office. Corrections, corrigenda, or retractions will be published as appropriate, with transparent notices identifying affected parts.

7. Article Withdrawal and Returns

  • New evidence invalidates findings;
  • The article is under review elsewhere;
  • The work falls outside the journal’s scope;
  • The scientific quality is below journal standards;
  • The article violates publication ethics or research integrity.

8. Research Ethics: Human Rights, Privacy, and Confidentiality

  • The Declaration of Helsinki (World Medical Association);
  • U.S. Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects;
  • European Medicines Agency Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (GCP);
  • Ethical requirements established by local institutional and national research ethics committees, including those applicable in Uzbekistan

Authors must ensure the protection of participants’ rights, privacy, and confidentiality of personal data, and minimize any physical, psychological, or social risks related to participation in the research.

A clear statement confirming ethics committee approval, informed consent from participants, and data protection measures must be included in the Declarations section of the manuscript.

9. Declarations Section

Before references, authors must include a Declarations section summarizing relevant disclosures under headings such as:

  • Funding
  • Competing Interests
  • Ethics Approval and Consent to Participate
  • Consent for Publication
